PET HUB OFFERS FREE WEB LINKABLE PET ID TAGS TO NON-PROFIT ANIMAL RESCUE SHELTERS
Pet Hub's smartphone scannable ID tags link to adopted animals' records to help get them safely home again
SEATTLE, Wash. – March 31, 2011: Pet Hub, Inc., announced today its PetHub.com Rescue Program (PRP) that works with non-profit animal rescue shelters to help adoptive pet parents protect their newest family members. "By having a pet's medical, training, and contact information already entered at PetHub.com by a shelter," explained Lorien Clemens, Manager of Customer Service & Outreach at PetHub, Inc., "adoptive pet parents receive their new pet's digital 'Pet Card' that holds the animal's entire history linked to a smartphone scannable pet ID tag. The owners can then continue to modify and manage that pet's data throughout its life, free of charge."
The PetHub™ Link ID tags have both a human-readable web address as well as a 2-dimensional bar code, or "QR code," that, when scanned by an Apple iPhone™, Android, Microsoft™ Windows Mobile device, Blackberry™, or other camera-equipped, browser-enabled cellular phone, navigates to an animal's online profile. This profile dynamically displays any information the owner has chosen to share. Any change made to the profile is immediately updated and displayed the next time the pet ID tag is scanned. An example of the most commonly shared data includes either the owner's contact information or the contact information for their trusted pet sitter. Current medications, pet license and rabies tag numbers, and even microchip data, can be set to display when the tag is scanned.
"The PRP program is simple. A non-profit shelter need only provide proof of their non-profit status, the number of tags they require, and a commitment to both enter the data about an animal into a PetHub.com profile and place the tag on the animal's collar," noted Clemens. Shelters may also place their company brand on the pet ID tag for a minimal fee. In future months, PetHub will continue to grow the PRP program to include assisting shelters with their fundraising efforts.
Pet Hub, Inc., is working with a select-few Washington State shelters now to refine the process in preparation for the demand they expect to receive based on the strong, positive feedback from these organizations. The program goes country-wide starting in late June 2011.
